Today I am thinking of a woman who I helped stop smoking many years ago. Lacking self-confidence in middle age and having struggled with weight for many years and lost, she believed nobody could really help her get out from under smoking, her “nastiest habit!”.
I only get the truly hopeless clients, those who have tried everything else and failed, and who have smoked or vaped for many years. She was no exception.
Around four years later a confident, attractive, chic woman came up to me in the lobby of a theater I was attending with my husband during the intermission. I didn’t recognize her even though she recognized me with a warm smile and beaming with confidence.
“I want to thank you,” she began. “I don’t know if you remember me, but I am _________ and you helped me stop smoking a while back. After we completed our work together, I realized that if I could stop smoking, I could do anything. So, here I am! Because of the work I did with you, I was able to finally lose the weight I had been struggling with for so many years. So, thank you for giving me back my life, my health, and a whole new outlook on life. “
I was gob-smacked! This was not the same woman whom I had helped in the past. She was truly transformed! And, lest you or I erroneously conclude that I have any special powers, I recognize the miracle of her transformation was between her and her Higher Power. I am just a messenger. But she was given the gift of willingness, she obviously kept an open mind so that she could invite a new experience of herself, and she was accountable and honest with herself.
What a blessed and humbling experience it is for me to work with folks who dare to dream big and who learn to walk their talk! It is thrilling to behold! And, it’s really the easier, softer way, once you learn the steps to take. Call me 512-758-1910.
