Do You Want to Feel Better?

When it comes down to it, this is the essential question that all of us must face when we are coming to terms with our behavior when it is out of sync with our image or ourselves. “What is my behavior costing me? And am I willing to develop the willingness to do what is necessary to feel better? How am I standing in the way of my own freedom and happiness?”

Yet, these questions we put off.  We put them off because the answer requires action that thus-far, we have been willing to undertake. So, we look for quick fixes, something to get rid of the nag.  We negotiate an easier softer way.  We take a pill to get rid of the symptom, we make drug manufacturers our new higher power, we bargain with ourselves by putting off taking positive action until after the holiday or after this or that deadline, or we rationalize that we simply “don’t have time”, “its not that bad”, or “everyone has something.”

And so, we stay stuck in low-grade anxiety and inner turmoil, wishing to be able to escape the hell of it, the constant rat-race of trying to control what we don’t want to admit we are powerless over.

What about God?  What about praying for the willingness?  What about reaching out for help to those who have gone before with success and whom you trust?  What about the power of attraction?  If you are struggling with a substance that you or a loved one is powerless to control, why wait for the problem to only get worse when untreated? Find someone who didn’t transfer their addiction onto another substance and ask how they did it and whether they can help you.  The holidays are approaching, and you deserve to feel better, enjoying the peace and freedom that is your God-given right.

God Bless You!
