100% is easier than 98%

Dr. Benjamin Hardy says 100% it is much easier than making a 98% commitment. Why is this so? Let’s look at the commitment to swear off vaping to only once a day, a 98% commitment. You decide that you want to cut down because of what it is doing to your mouth and throat and you don’t like that your use is increasing. You do fine the first day, even though you miss it. Then you meet a friend who also vapes and they are vaping. You decide, “Just this once” and you join in. But now for the rest of the day all you can think about is taking another hit and before long, you are back to vaping full on.

You see, with an addiction it is all or nothing! It is either 100% vaping, or 100% not vaping. There is no such thing as 98% or 75% or 50% in between. Why is that? Because that way, you are constantly negotiating with yourself over when you will take your next hit. Its vaper hell. Its the nature of addiction. You have lost the ability to vape occasionally or to control it. Rather, it controls you! That is what it means to be powerless. Once you take that first hit, the obsession to chase the next hit kicks in, and you must answer the call. Once a cucumber becomes a pickle, it can never go back to being a cucumber!

So it is the 98%ers who are miserable because all they can think about is getting their supply of nicotine, whereas the 100%ers have fully committed to letting go. They are the free ones. They have surrendered to win!
